Welcome to Queenstown, the adventure capital of the world! As you touch down in this stunning destination, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of majestic mountains and crystal-clear lakes. After picking up your rental car at the airport, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to unwind and immerse yourself in the enchanting charm of Queenstown.
Begin your adventure with a breathtaking helicopter ride that soars above Lake Te Anau and lush native beech forests, revealing hidden lakes along the way. This awe-inspiring flight will land you at Luxmore Hut on the renowned Kepler Track Great Walk, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. From there, hike around the alpine area, taking in panoramic views of the Fiordland mountains that expand as you climb higher.
After a well-deserved lunch at Luxmore Hut, descend through magnificent mountain and silver beech forests, witnessing the changes in vegetation and weather conditions. The hike continues past towering limestone bluffs where your guide will share insights into Fiordland’s geology. As you approach Lake Te Anau, the track meanders through native New Zealand ferns and sub-tropical species. The guided walk concludes on the sandy shore of Brod Bay, where a boat cruise will take you back to Te Anau township, offering a scenic view of the journey you’ve completed from the alpine heights to the clear waters of Lake Te Anau.
Begin your day with a brief introduction at the Milford Sound terminal before embarking on a short boat ride across Milford Sound’s Deep Water Basin to Sandfly Point, the start of today’s Milford Track hike. From here, follow a well-formed track alongside the Arthur River and Lake Ada to the stunning Giant’s Gate waterfall, best viewed from the large swing bridge. As you walk with a small group, your knowledgeable guide will highlight the native flora, fauna, and human history of the track.
After the guided walk, return to the main wharf complex to board a small boat cruise. Relax and take in Milford Sound’s breathtaking scenery, including Mitre Peak and Stirling Falls, from the outdoor viewing decks. With limited numbers, enjoy an intimate experience and unobstructed photo opportunities while keeping an eye out for seals and dolphins, providing a perfect end to your day.
Embark on a unique guided day walk with a pickup in Te Anau, followed by a scenic 1.5-hour drive with brief hiking stops to enjoy stunning landscapes. Upon reaching the Divide Shelter, start your hike through enchanting temperate rainforest on a well-maintained trail. Guided by an expert guide, explore the iconic Routeburn Track, ascending 400 meters to an alpine environment with panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, pristine lakes, and verdant valleys. Weather permitting, enjoy lunch at the summit’s alpine tarns or at the Lake Howden hut on rainy days. On your final day, enjoy a lovely breakfast before your long drive back from Te Anau to Queenstown. After returning your rental car at the airport, make your way to your gate, and prepare to board your flight.
